WALTHAM Forest Amateur Boxing Club’s latest dinner show proved a big-hit and raised some much needed funds for learning needs school Corbets Tey of Upminster.
The event held in the lavish surroundings of the Prince Regent Hotel in Chigwell on Friday night, played host to ten action-packed bouts and raised £25,000 for the designated charity to boot.
Unfortunately two Forest fighters saw their bouts pulled at the last minute, leaving Christian Adeyemi as the sole home fighter on the night.
But roared on by a bumper crowd, Adeyemi didn’t disappoint when he secured a split decision from the judges, following an entertaining contest against Tyrone Kerr from Stonebridge ABC.
Reflecting on events club secretary Ian Cuddy said: “I would like to thank Jim Taylor from Modernmix, with his assistants Vic Britton and Kelly Judd for all their hard work in making this event so successful.
“I am sure the large crowd enjoyed a very entertaining night of amateur boxing, including our very own Christian Adeyemi.
“He boxed very well against a strong opponent and I hope this win will help him go from strength-to-strength in the ring.”
